In Search of the New Artevisuality: Directions

Artifical Intelligence (AI) is rewiring humans and technology. In the visual arts the new connectivity has huge consequences for creativity and the production of artwork. How, for example, can the new media be applied for personal creative expression? And, since the argument on AI and (lack of) originality is strong, how can artist use the new media to achieve originality? What does it take, to these ends, to interact properly with artificial machinery (under what conditions and consequences)? And taking in reflections on these questions, how can the relation between AI, creativity and originality be comprehended?
Artevisual Explorations
Since 2023 Screenpunk explores how the great reassemblage works in domains of the fine arts by deploying artificial machinery itself. The aim is to achieve a satisfying level of creative and original artistic expression over AI media, and to reflect on the results. This websites reports on these ambitions.
Patterns and Structures
A major observation on image generation is the effortless ability of AI software to generate patterns, structures, textures, fractals and other complex, compiled entities. Midjourney, for example, excels in relating objects and elements and, at the same time, repeating and transforming them into something different.
Pattern and structure generation does not only result in aesthetical pleasing imagery in itself. It seems to provide a flexible approach for composing objects and situations, both figurative and abstract. The resulting images are not only pleasing for the eye, but pattern and structure generation seems to enhance possibilities for personal signature and creative design of images.
