Screenpunk: In Search of the New Artevisuality Artifical Intelligence (AI) is rewiring humans and technology. In the visual arts the new connectivity has profound consequences for artistic creation. While critics argue that AI-generated art lacks originality, the new technologies open up vast horizons of creative possibilities. To move beyond assumptions, Screenpunk asks: how can new media be used to achieve personal artistic expression? What does it take to engage creatively and innovatively with artificial systems? And under what conditions can these technologies foster originality? Since late 2023, Screenpunk has been exploring how the technological shift can be applied to fine arts by using AI as a creative tool. The goal is to achieve a meaningful level of originality and artistic expression through AI-driven media, particularly Midjourney. This site showcases and discusses the results of Screenpunk’s search for a new form of artevisuality. The Creation page presents curated artwork developed over intentional prompt design, exploring distinct visual styles. The Reflection page serves as Screenpunk’s notebook, documenting thoughts on hybrid art forms and emerging aesthetics. The Exploration page brings together all entries, offering an evolving snapshot of the state of the new artevisuality. Screenpunk's art work follows no predetermined path. It unfolds intuitively—ideas, impressions, and suggestions are assessed for their potential to contribute to the search for new artevisuality and acted upon accordingly. The process is fluid, driven by curiosity, experimentation, and a desire to push creative boundaries. If you like to discuss work or ideas, please contact. All of Screenpunk's images are stored on Screenpunk's imagestream on Flickr. |
